The wonders of dry shampoo

I have what some call “thin” hair and what others call “fine”. I still don’t know which is correct. I have a lot of hair, but the strands are thin so I believe the correct term is “thin”. In any event, I have to shower every day. Up until a week ago, I washed my hair every day because if not, my hair was too oily. Then a friend told me about dry shampoo. She said it works and allows you to not wash your hair every day, which is much better for your hair since you are not strippingContinue Reading

Sometimes I find myself shaking in the middle of the night and then it hits me and I can’t even believe this is my life.Continue Reading

New Year’s Resolutions

Get up earlier I stay in bed as long as possible on work mornings and I’d like to get up an hour earlier to accomplish my other goals below! Work out regularly in the morning I’d like to work out 45 minutes, 6 days a week. This is in an effort to get healthier. I don’t like how lazy I’ve become when it comes to this so, it has to change now! Clean at least 15 minutes every day It’s amazing how much less I have to do on the weekend when I follow this one simple rule. Just pickingContinue Reading

Review: The Avengers

Review: The Avengers

I love super hero movies and this one combines some of my favorites already (Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk) with ones that are new to me (Thor, Black Widow) to make some super hero-ey goodness! Sure there are flaws, as in any movie, but it was exactly what I expected it to be: humorous and full of action.Continue Reading

Rediscovery Of An Old Love

Rediscovery Of An Old Love

Back in the Michael Jordan glory days, I was a huge NBA fan. I loved Michael Jordan first and foremost but also just enjoyed the game. I played basketball all the time and loved the game entirely. After MJ left, it completely took my love for the game away. In my opinion, I was able to witness the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and when the GOAT leaves, it’s kind of hard to keep the love there. I tried to watch a few games after that and even managed to watch a whole NBA game but that was in theContinue Reading

Review: Ronald Kessler – In The President’s Secret Service

I found this book by accident when I was looking for a true crime book at Barnes & Noble. I found it easy to read and actually pretty fascinating. You learn some pretty interesting things like all of the code names for the more recent Presidents and their families as well as some scary things that I wish were not out in public for terrorists to have available.Continue Reading

Top Movies of 2013 I Want To See

Stand-Up Guys February 1, 2013 Al Pacino. Christopher Walken. Julianna Margulies. Sounds good to me. The synopsis from Movie Insider: Val is released from prison after serving twenty-eight years for refusing to give up one of his close criminal associates. His best friend Doc is there to pick him up, and the two soon re-team with another old pal, Hirsch. Their bond is as strong as ever, and the three reflect on freedom lost and gained, loyalties ebbed and flowed, and days of glory gone by. And despite their age, their capacity for mayhem is still very much alive andContinue Reading

Review: One Last Thing Before I Go by Jonathan Tropper

Review: One Last Thing Before I Go by Jonathan Tropper

Silver's a screw up. He hasn't always been but just for as long as he can remember. Just as his ex-wife is about to re-marry, Silver receives life changing news regarding himself AND his daughter, Casey.

What ensues is Silver's struggle to fix his life. It's messy, funny, and gut-wrenching.

I’ve been a fan of Jonathan Tropper’s since I read This Is Where I Leave You last year. I fell in love instantly with his writing style and character development. This book does not disappoint. Silver’s struggles during this book are extremely human like and although at times, I wanted to slap him for his stupidity and stubbornness, I still understood where he was coming from. His relationship and dialogue with his daughter, Casey, is easily the best part of the book, at least for me. Like all good stories about redemption, the path is not an easy one. SilverContinue Reading
